Choosing a UX Based Concept for your CMS

Image
Image Source User experience (UX) design is the process by which design teams create products that provide users with meaningful and relevant experiences. UX design encompasses the entire process of acquiring and integrating a product, including branding, design, usability, and function. I want to create a simple website that highlights tourist information on the city of Budapest, giving small tips about where is good to go and where to avoid from firsthand experience after visiting the city. I hope for the final product to be appealing to my target market while also being simplistic.  For my CMS website, two UX features I would like to include are the ability to always be able to get back to the homepage from every page and different colors for different sections of my website. Some examples of good articles I have seen explaining good UX design techniques, and websites I have seen with good visuals and good colors are: 3Sidedcube Interaction Design Waims I think I chose to incorpor

User Experience (UX) Explained for Best Practice Website Creation

Image
Image Source UX design is an abbreviation for User Experience design. It is concerned with how people interact with products and services. It includes everything from digital products like websites and apps to everyday appliances like phones and toasters. UX is not a new concept. Engineers and product designers have been researching this issue for decades in order to improve design. Nowadays, the human factor is being emphasized even more.  Donald Norman, a user experience architect at Apple, coined the term UX. He used it to cover all aspects of system experience. Industrial design, graphics, software interface, physical interaction, and even the user manual were all included. A content management system, also known as a CMS, is the control system for a website where web content is managed and maintained. Everything from editing text and adding images to creating galleries is managed by content management systems. The CMS is where new web content, such as onsite pages and blogs, is

Reading 12- Done not Doing

Image
Source I really struggled with the reading task this semester for Multimedia Development. I struggled with knowing where to start and how to gather all my information from so many different resources, but I eventually end up getting it done, and even though it's probably not one hundred percent perfect, I'm happy that I was able to complete the task. I was glad to be able to learn something through this task throughout the semester as I didn't have too much knowledge on Twitch or streaming before doing any research and now I have basic knowledge of the platform and what it's all about. Reading was definitely not my best part of this module for this semester, even though at the start of the semester I expected that I would find reading easier than creating a 2D game or even Game Jam, but that was not the case for me. I struggle when it comes to having to pick specific information out of long readings or articles and it is definitely something that I could be better at

Reading 11- Doing It

Image
Source For this reading task, I started to write up my chapter after compiling all of my information from many different resources. Making my chapter on a topic that I am not very educated on was a challenge so I was struggling with knowing what to write and where to put certain areas of the topic within the chapter. I also struggled with having to read through a tonne of different long articles filled with information, to then have to pick out the information that I would need for my topic. Eventually, after hours of reading articles and searching for information online, I was able to bring together a good amount of information that I would be able to use for my chapter of the book, at this point, I just needed to decide how to structure it all within the chapter and also needed to read through all the information I had compiled and get rid of the pieces that may not have been as important, or needed in my chapter. After doing this I gathered all my resources into a word document an

Game Jam Reflective Report

When I first heard about Game Jam at the start of the semester I wasn't too interested in applying to participate because my coding skills and game development skills aren't too strong. But as it got closer to the time of game jam I decided to just apply anyway because it's something I've never done before and it was a chance to meet some new people from other campuses and also to try and strengthen my game design skills over the weekend event. As a whole I really enjoyed the whole weekend and I was really happy with my team, we worked very strongly together and each of us had something different to bring to the team throughout the process.  I think the format of Game Jam was really good, I liked that we were put with people we knew but also people we didn't know, so it wasn't as nerve wrecking having someone you know within the team opposed to being with all strangers. I also liked that it was a 3 day thing and not something stretched over throughout the semes

Tutorial 07

Image
Personal Screenshot from my Unity Hub In this weeks Ruby tutorial(the last one!!!) we were just polishing up our games and adding in the last few little bits, which consisted of adding in audio and also building and running the game. Adding in the audio to the game wasn't as difficult as I was expecting it to be, I didn't have any difficulty adding it it, I like how the music brightens up the game a bit more and the song we used in the background is very catchy too. In the second part of the tutorial we had to build and run the game, we also needed to create a stand alone application just so we can upload the game somewhere so people don't have to download Unity and all of the assets of the game to be able to run the game.  I am very happy that my game is running well and doesn't seem to have any errors, ad it was a bonus that the tutorials over the last couple of weeks weren't too difficult to follow. I enjoyed making this 2D game over the past few weeks.

Tutorial 06

Image
Personal Screenshot from Unity Hub For this weeks Unity tutorial I had to add a health bar on to the screen of the game, to do this I had to develop a user interface into the game.  To start I had to create a canvas for the health bar by making a rectangle shape and then adding in an image into the space and also used the masking tool to show when he health declines when she's hit. In the second part of the tutorial we had to add in world interactions into the game and also some ray casting, which made the world look a little bit more natural and added in things like shadows to the characters for when they're in different lighting. We also cleaned up our scripts a little bit and just took out some of the code that wasn't needed at this stage.  I found some parts of this week's tutorial quite difficult but I got there in the end. I'm not too sure what else we can add to the game but I look forward to finishing it soon.
