Game Design Document

Source This week we had to create our Game Design Documents for our games, after reading about what a game design document was, initially I was very confused as I had never heard of them before, and I then had to figure out what I was going to include in my own and what website I would use to design it. I designed mine on Dundoc. This website was a lot to take in at first, I found it really hard to navigate my way around it and it took me a while to be able to find where I was suppose to be creating my Game Design Document. Eventually I got the hang of it and I was able to create a game design document, I'm still not sure if it is 100% right but I gave it a good go. Game Design Document

Unity Tutorial 05

Source : Personal screenshot from my Unity Hub I found this weeks Unity tutorial the easiest of all of them so far. This week was mostly script based and wasn't too much of adding things into Unity itself. When I first started following these Unity tutorials I found myself having to watch the videos very closely when I was adding code into the scrips, whereas now, I find that I can just listen along in the background and be able to add the code into Visual Design Studio without too much help. I didn't have any difficulties with this weeks Unity tutorial, which is a first, usually I have small little errors that are easily fixed but this week I didn't run into any trouble at all. I'm nervous to start my own game, because these tutorials are kind of a security blanket because every little thing you need is there, whereas when were making out own games, there isn't a guarantee of a tutorial with everything you might want to add, so I expect to be altering my game quite...

Source What is a game design document? I'm still learning a lot about game design as we progress through this module, so learning about game design documents this week was quite interesting. I read this article  by Lennart Nacke about what game design documents are and also some rules to follow to create a good game design document. Game design documents have two main purposes, for memory aid and also they're a communication tool. They mostly help us in defining how a game will work in detail and also how to communicate with other people on your team, that help create these games, on how you plan to develop the game. Some rules for creating a good game design document would be to know your target, just so you know what needs you are dealing with while creating the game. To keep the game design document short, just so its straight to the point and easy to read, wastes less time. And also to use clear terminology, you don't want people to be confused about what they're ...
